Changes happen every day in our lives. Most of them are good, some of them not, a few of them can even wreak havoc. On October 18, lives at the Wakefield family, and Summa Global, came to a standstill. It all began that morning when a portion of highway in the Clackamas county was closed due a hit-and-run car crash. Car accidents are not uncommon, but what’s different about this is that one of our very own was involved. When Rachel received the phone call at about 7:15, it felt like the world came crashing down on us, hearts stopped, time frozen….it was surreal. On the way to the hospital, the only thought (or wish) we had was for Ana to stay alive. And she did just that.
Ana is family to us, not merely because she is Rachel’s daughter. Many of you may not know her, but she and her sister, Valerie, have been an integral part of our growth in the past few years. Ana brings joy, cheers, laughter, creativity, and professionalism. She even rescued a cat at work!
An avid college basketball athlete, a compassionate youth coach, a valedictorian, a loving daughter, a caring sister, a dear friend to many, Ana does not and will not give up fighting. The road ahead is long and full of challenges, but we are sure that support from all of us and her faith will carry her through this most difficult time.
A fundraising campaign has been set up to help Ana and the family with medical expenses. Every bit means a great deal. We are grateful and forever in your debt.
