Family
Henry met his wife, Ivy, when she caught his eye during a college finance class. In 2008, Henry and Ivy tied the knot and now have three young children, Audrey, Zackery, and Wesley. Ivy, a flight attendant for Alaska Airlines, has taken advantage of her travel benefits by taking the family to a number of destinations, from Florida to Hawai’i. One interesting tidbit: by age 3½, Audrey had already visited all four of the Hawaiian islands!
Fun Facts
Pet peeves…literally. Two things that bother Henry most are neighbors letting their dogs bark endlessly and people not picking up after their pets. He doesn’t hold anything against the animals, just those irresponsible pet owners.
Cultural cuisine. If Henry could only eat one meal for the rest of his life, it would be the Shanghai-style wonton, without a doubt!
The world’s most popular sport. Henry’s favorite sport to watch and to play is soccer – what the rest of the world calls football!
Words to live by. “If you can’t commit 100% to a task, why even bother?” Henry’s wife often uses this phrase, and it has become their family motto.
From Hong Kong to Portland. A native of Shanghai, Henry was raised in the wonderful, cosmopolitan city of Hong Kong after his family settled there for a better life and opportunities. At age 19, Henry moved to the Portland area to attend college. He enjoys occasional visits to his parents and sister who still live in Hong Kong. If Henry could have any superpower, it would be the ability to teleport – then he could visit his folks as frequently as he wanted to!
Community
Henry is a volunteer with the pro bono committee at the Financial Planning Association of Oregon and SW Washington. In fact, he spearheaded what is now known as the Financial Empowerment Program—a joint effort by the FPA, local non-profits, and the Multnomah County libraries to provide free financial advice and seminars to the general public and to victims of domestic abuse. He has also been involved with Habitat for Humanity.
